Letterkenny RFC under 12 squad attended the Coleraine Mini Blitz on Sunday and had a great day’s rugby. This event hosted some of the strongest clubs in Ulster and provided rugby of a very high standard. The emphasis was on participation and enjoyment and this was certainly true for all the Letterkenny players and parents present on the day. Great credit must go to the host club for an exceptionally well organised event held in superb facilities.

Letterkenny fielded two teams and both excelled on a day when the standard of rugby and opposition was very high. The under 12 team had five games and the under 11 team had four games. All were played in a very competitive and sportsman like manner with the Letterkenny boys experiencing only one defeat out of the nine games. This was a great achievement considering that only 23 players were present on the day and the inevitable fatigue and injuries took their toll in the last few games. It was at this stage that the Letterkenny boys showed great spirit and team work and never gave up.

This was a day when all players excelled. The support play and passing was the best produced this season to date. Defence had also improved with all players focusing on tackling low. All parents, supporters and team coaches left Coleraine on Sunday very proud of their players who deserve great credit for such an outstanding display. We all look forward to the county blitz to be held at the Dave Gallagher Memorial Park in Letterkenny on Saturday next, 24th April. All are invited to come along at 10.30am and enjoy an entertaining morning’s rugby.
